Teachers,
Welcome back from your winter break!
At the end of last year, many of you attended a presentation at Arkansas Children’s Hospital to learn more about HealthTeacher, the leading online provider of K-12 health education.
As you may recall, Arkansas Children’s Hospital has graciously offered to provide financial support for Arkansas Coordinated School Health districts to utilize HealthTeacher, meaning there will be no cost for your school(s) to participate in this program.
HealthTeacher is a comprehensive online K-12 health education resource that provides teachers over 300 lesson plans, covering 10 health topic areas. Aligned to the National Health Education Standards, HealthTeacher is an easy-to-use tool that includes lesson overviews, teaching steps, HEAP assessments, student activities and more. HealthTeacher is used by over 22,000 teachers in nearly 8,000 schools. HealthTeacher can be used as a stand alone or supplemental curriculum.
You can learn more about HealthTeacher and see sample lesson plans by visiting www.healthteacher.com/arkansas.
For your school(s) to participate in the HealthTeacher program we need to hear from you no later than January 30, 2009. Simply email me at laura.mcdowell@arkansas.gov confirming your interest. Within your response, I will need to know how many schools will be participating. I look forward to hearing from all of you.
Thanks,
Laura McDowell
Program Manager, Coordinated School Health
