Could Your Child Have a Problem with Gambling?


Parents, if you have noticed any of these behavioral indicators, consider the possibility that your child may have a gambling problem.

Check all that apply:
 Unexplained need for money
 Valuables missing from the home
 Borrowing money from family and friends
 Exaggerated display of money and other possessions
 Frequent cards/dice games at home
 Missing from school or classes
 Tardy to school
 Drop in school grades
 Drop in other outside activities
 Excessive TV sports watching
 Overly intensive TV sports watching
 Overly upset at game's conclusion
 Interest in sports teams to which there was no previous allegiance
 Unusual interest in periodicals reporting sports results
 Uncharacteristic usage of phone
 Late night calls
 Phone charges to sports results centers or 1-900 numbers
 Withdrawal from family
 Gambling paraphernalia
 Betting slips
 IOU's
 Lottery tickets
 Increased irritability or hostility
 Lying over whereabouts
