Gambling: Ways to Say No

1. Say no firmly. Repeat if necessary.

"No thanks. I'm not interested in gambling."

2. Make an excuse.

"Sorry, I've got to get home for dinner."

3. Give a good reason.

"Forget it. I don't want to lose the money I worked so hard to earn!"

4. Suggest an alternative activity.

"Poker? Wouldn't you rather go skateboarding?"

5. Change the subject.

"Hey, speaking of gambling, did you see that casino movie last night?"

6. Blame an adult.

"No way! My mom would kill me!"

7. Reverse the pressure.

"Why do you care so much about what I do?"

8. Get support from a like-minded friend.

"You're not convinced by this act, are you? Me neither."

9. Use humor.

"Silly me, I thought we were in Delaware, not Las Vegas!"

10. Walk away.

"Look, I've gotta go. I'll see you later."
