As more girls are entering puberty at a younger age, some boys are entering much later. The reason? Being overweight, according to researchers at the University of Michigan.
Their study found that, "Puberty for boys typically begins about age 10, but for those at the top of the body mass index charts, the earliest changes of puberty may not begin until age 11 and a half or later," according to an MSNBC.com article.
That delay - and the early onset for girls - can lead to depression or disruptive behavior, experts say.
