Last week Walt Disney World decided to close its new childhood obesityexhibit in Epcot -- before it even officially opened. The reason? Many critics say it was insensitive to overweight and obese kids and missed the mark on what exactly causes childhood obesity.
In the exhibit, called Habit Heroes, lead characters "Callie Stenics" and "Will Power" fight fat villains like "Lead Bottom" and "The Snacker."
The exhibit unofficially opened last month, and it didn't take long for the backlash to begin.
"Here, they (children) are in Disney, the happiest place on earth, and basically Disney is being the schoolyard bully that's been making fun of them for years at home," Ottawa bariatric surgeon Yoni Freedhoff told Reuters.
Freedhoff blogged about the exhibit Feb. 23, calling it "horrifying."
