When a parent experiences work-related stress, family meals tend to be less nutritious, finds a new study from the University of Minnesota. And that's especially true if the mother works full time.
The study found that mothers who worked full time "had fewer meals as a family, served more fast-food meals and encouraged their teens to eat healthy less often," explains HealthDay. "They had lower fruit and vegetable intake and spent less time on food preparation than moms who worked part time or who were not employed."
The solution, say health experts? Encouraging the whole family, including children, to pitch in with meal preparation and stocking the fridge and pantry with quick, easy and healthy food options.
